Community Problems Assembly

SURE’s first large gathering of the year. At this meeting we listen to stories from House Meetings and prepare to address issues in our community. Our Network Members vote on what issues they want to address and commit to the work ahead of us.

SURE’s Nehemiah Action is unlike any other gathering in Sarasota. Hundreds of people of faith gather to press local officials to solve the most serious problems plaguing our community.

SURE’s annual gathering so Network Members can celebrate our work and invest in the organization.
Detention Center Prayer Vigil
SURE invites you to join us in solidarity with the vigil in the Everglades. All are invited to gather Sunday, November 9th, at 4pm at Payne Park Pavilion in Sarasota. The Rev. Dr. Wes Bixby (First Congregational UCC) will lead this week. A parking lot is available just north of the park.
The next vigil will be Nov 16, 2025 at 4pm.
Detention Center Prayer Vigil
SURE invites you to join us in solidarity with the vigil in the Everglades. All are invited to gather Sunday, November 2nd, at 4pm at Payne Park Pavilion in Sarasota. A parking lot is available just north of the park. The Rev. Alex Evangelista will lead this week. Starting in November the vigil time will move to 4 pm here in Sarasota AND at the Everglades Big Cypress Detention Center.
This Vigil will be part of the national “Disappeared in America Weekend of Action,” which will include events across the country like Vigils, Protests at Home Depot, and Dia de los Muertos Actions (to honor those who have lost their lives in ICE Detention). This Vigil will be our contribution and an act of solidarity with this larger movement, as well as our siblings in the Everglades and across our state.The next vigil will be Nov 9, 2025 at 4pm.
Listening Process Kickoff
An integral part of our annual process is listening to the people in our community about the issues that they are facing. Join us to kickoff our 2024 Listening Process on August 26th at St. Andrew UCC. At this training meeting we will go over the intention behind house meetings and solidify plans for each network’s network events throughout this process.
